One Customer Review of “Air-Trekker Jumping Stilts”
Review by Austin M. November 11, 2012
While I did enjoy my jumping stilts at first, I have personally run across a dangerous and irreparable design flaw. Human legs are smooth on the inside so that if and when you need to run, you can do so without having to worry about the insides of your legs brushing against each other. Air-trekkers however do not mimic the human body in that regard, and therefore not only allow you to run faster than you likely ever could by yourself, but also make it more likely that you will fall and severely injure yourself. Also, given the current nature of the design, you are forced to walk and run incorrectly with your feet pointing outward duck footed style. This is unhealthy for the muscle in your leg known as the VMO muscle, and may lead to said muscle atrophying. Here is an account of the problems faced by one man who had that happen, perhaps not because of jumping stilts, but due to other causes.( http://board.crossfit.com/archive/index.php/t-66120.html ) Ultimately, I believe that the investment I made in these jumping stilts was an unwise one. While in theory, the concept may be a good one, in reality you are risking a lot of money on a product that the original designer even acknowledged that as many as one 2-5 percent, or an astonishing 1 in 50 to 1 in 20 springs will fail prematurely. Also, the company has no return policy for used stilts.
