I order wine on line weekly. I typically use wine.com or lot18. Both companies are great and stand behind their product 100 percent. Barclay’s and Barclaysbin on the other hand do not. I recently bought a 4 bottle deal from Barclaysbin which had at least 2 full tablespoons of sediment. It was disgusting. While attempting to drink it, after running it thru a coffee filter, I called them. They would not credit me the lousy $14.00, no way, no how. They claim that Barclaysbin does not have the same guarantee as barclay’s. Really? So, drink my sediment and shut up? After repeated attempts to recuperate my money, I failed. They win. For $14, I’m out of there. Their wine is no big deal (Their = Barclaysbin AND Barclays) – same company from a consumer perspective.
BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Funny how two different companies have the same phone number. Do not buy from them! Try wine.com or Lot18.

I order wine online quite often and I have tried to order through Barclays twice. Both times I ended up canceling my order. Their website is deceiving and their special offers and misleading. I even called them to try and fix my order and they basically told me I was out of luck. This is a terrible company and I will never do business with them again.

I’ve seen some bad reviews of Barclays online, but I gotta say my experience has been pretty good. Ordering was fine, I joined the club and selected a mixed case. They sent me a confirmation email and my order info was available on their website. My one qualm with the ordering process is that they don’t send an email when it ships. Still, this was available on their website, so it’s not as if it was hard to check.
Once it shipped, their website had the tracking number and I was able to see my delivery info on FedEx’s website. Wine arrived well within the 10-14 day window they promised. The selection is not terrible. I received 2x ‘Carma’ Carmenere 2010, 2x ‘Chateau Les Tuileries’ Bordeaux 2009, 2x ‘Roza Ridge’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2004, 2x ‘Carma’ Sauvignon Blanc 2010, 2x ‘Blue Pirate’ Pinot Gris 2008, and 2x ‘Lunacy’ Chardonnay 2007.
I looked all of these up, and the cheapest I could get these for would be $161.66 + whatever sales tax I ended up paying. I bought the groupon so all total I spent about $100 on this wine, including $20 shipping (which I won’t have to pay next time apparently). I haven’t popped any of the bottles yet as I just received them, but non of this strikes me as the horrible experiences I’ve read some people say they had.
All in all, I’d say 4 out of 5. I’m satisfied with everything except for the not getting a shipping email and maybe one or two of the selections could be improved slightly. Oh, and I didn’t get the tasting notes… need to call them about that.

I would like to share my experience with Barclay’s Wine:
I very excitedly placed my order for wines from Barclay’s and everything with the order and shipment went smoothly… until I uncorked two of the bottles of champagne that I purchased (for $26.95 each) and realized they had turned to vinegar. I contacted Barclay’s to inform them of this and to request two replacement bottles. Despite their “guarantee” on their website, they said they would only issue me a $20 credit to a future order. This clearly did not remedy the problem, and it would not pay for ONE replacement bottle, even excluding shipping costs. In an attempt to address their concerns about the high cost of shipping (which they cited as a principal reason they would not replace the bad champagne they sent me), I even offered to pay shipping for two bottles of the same champagne to replace the two bottles of vinegary champagne they had sent me. They again said no. A supervisor with Barclay Wines also declined to do anything more than offer a $20 credit. Unacceptable.
I would not order from Barclay’s Wine again. I would give them less than 1 star if I could.

Horrible experience. The first case of wine we ordered, the best wine was replaced with “Tuesday Night Red” which is not a bad tasting wine, but certainly not the same value as the wine they replaced.
The next case we ordered (mistake!) I ordered a mixed case, but changed my mind right after ordering to just get reds. I emailed to see if that was possible. I received no response for quite some time, then got notice that my order was canceled. I was still charged the full amount. Then they charged me again for the reds and the refund of my original case took about 10 days. I STILL have not received my wine after ordering almost a month ago. The customer service people are nice enough, but it takes eons for them to write back. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. There are tons of other places to order wine from online!!

I agree about the customer service: it’s horrible.
They never responded to my email inquiries and they didn’t refund me after they said they would for a bottle that arrived broken. Since I had a coupon, they are deducting that from the price of the bottle, regardless of the fact that I purchased a case and paid over $20 in shipping. They kept trying to get me to take store credit, but that won’t allow me to replace the bottle of wine for the same price since I have to pay for shipping. Strange, they never offered to just replace the wine.
Something else that made me uneasy was the shipping. They didn’t let me know when it was shipped, or how, so I was not able to track the package.

Customer service is horrible. The shipment never arrived by Thanksgiving, which they assured me in writing it would, and they still charged my credit card and refuse to respond to my numerous emails requesting a status of the refund.

Great value with very quick deliveries and i love the wine. I think they do a very nice job, better than others. Packaging is very nice too.

Frankly, I found the customer service to be terrible and they were extremely rude when I had a problem.

I can’t say I am overly enamored with the service. The wines are OK for a novitiate, but the attention to customer service leaves a bit to be desired. In today’s competitive business world, it does not hurt a company to keep their customers informed of order status, shipping dates, and other details of the customer’s order. Sadly, Barclay’s does not think that is important information for the customer.
I would give the wines 3/5 stars … several private selections not available elsewhere. But …. only 1 of 5 stars for customer service.

Preferably, I enjoy a crisp, refreshing white wine. So if you’re looking for something along those lines, I’d go with JM Fonseca Twin Vines. Crisp, refreshing and light, this brand of wine goes down smoothly with just about everything. If you’d like to compare it, compare it to a Pinot Grigio, just more refreshing. But Barclay’s Wine Experience is great. Hope you enjoy:
