I have a cat and a dog that are inside pets, the dog only goes outside to do its business. I had never had a problem with fleas before since the animals don't go outside that often. However, my well meaning mother had brought me over a cat scratching post from her friend because she knew that my cat would enjoy it and it was much bigger than the one that we currently had for the cat. When we got the cat scratching post we put it in the corner of the living room and the cat immediately made use of it, she even slept in the little sleeping area of the post.
One day shortly after we got the scratching post we began noticing that the cat was scratching a lot, then she broke out with sores on her neck. We took her to the vet and we learned that she was scratching because she had fleas. The reason that she had broke out with sores was because she was allergic to the flea saliva. We knew that since the cat had fleas the dog probably had them too. When the vet recommended Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Prevention for te cat we went ahead and purchased it for the dog too. Once we applied it to the back of the cats neck we noticed that the sores started to get smaller the very next day, she also stopped scratching.
We used it on the dog at the same time and the next day when we were brushing her we noticed quite a few dead flea bodies coming out in the dog brush. I am so glad that we found out about Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Prevention from our vet. It claims to kill the fleas within 12 hours, and I can attend to this. It really does work and we haven't found a flea since.
