The cards (if you love your child) will be your responsibility to make, and all the books in the set are available as FREE PDF files on the torrent site. If you're computer illiterate or don't know how to do it just get one of your clever relatives to download it for you. I downloaded this box set just out of curiosity to see what it was all about and it looks really good! However, I have to admit most of the kids in the infomercial look like they are associating the words displayed to them with a memorised sound (especially the younger ones). So why are there 5 year olds reading advanced books for their age in the infomercial too? You ask. Well, the infomercials purpose is to sell you the product, not make you aware that this box set is an AID rather than a one shot solution. I can tell you from now that those older kids reading advanced books have ALSO had mum/dad teaching them how to read traditionally at the same time. By combining the two together I think there is a chance to raising a bright kid in literacy. Just don't over do it with Your Baby Can Read... It's not going to create less work for you as a parent teaching them how to read. Anyways, it IS too expensive particularly for financially under privileged families, so I suggest to stick it to the man and just download it FOR FREE. Good luck with raising your kid.

I don’t know why you imbeciles don’t just DOWNLOAD the DVDs for FREE from a torrent site?! I think watching the words helped my daughter begin to talk, but reading is another matter. After more research I prefer the phonics method to reading over memorization. However, all the videos and cards are very good tools. My younger son destroyed the books because he loves to open the flaps, and he likes to sing along with the music in the videos.

This product is pricey, and can only do so much. Regardless of the value of their product they are very lacking in any concept of customer service. Three weeks after ordering and playing full price (taken at the time of order) they still have not delivered product. They did send tracking information, twice, but still show never actually being sent. Save your money, these people are rude and unreliable.

This is a horrible company to deal with. Unless your child is Dyslexic,(or possesses some other, far less common form of aphasia), reading instruction in schools will be adequate to teach your child to read. My Baby Can Read teaches reading using a method that is a common coping mechanism among dyslexic individuals, however, reading this way leaves dyslexics permanently disadvantaged in reading in comparison to their peers. While most dyslexics do not start using this strategy until a later age (around 3rd grade), getting a 'head start' in this method will not do a potentially dyslexic child any favors, nor will it help a non-dyslexic in the long run (since they will suffer if they don't learn how to read in the traditional manner when they begin schooling). If you want to ensure that your child will be a good reader, and you want to start early, look into ways to improve your child's phonemic awareness (their ability to hear and manipulate phonemes, the smallest units of sound in a language). The human brain is not designed in such a way that makes memorizing an exact order of letters and matching them to a definition and pronunciation easy, which is what My Baby Can Read teaches them to do. While this will work for many years, they will eventually fill their head with too many associations, and begin to confuse similar words. If your child seems to be having trouble with phonemic awareness, watch for other signs of reading trouble when they begin school. If they seem to be doing more poorly than classmates, have them tested for dyslexia. Be aware that school districts will be wary of providing tests for learning disabilities and that they will often perform a test which is designed only to assess if the disability is severe enough to warrant treatment, and frequently, the cut off is designed to minimize costs to the schools. These tests may indicate that your child is dyslexic (a fact that will often go unmentioned by the school), but that the school is not obligated to provide service. Dyslexics make up around 20% of Americans, that majority undiagnosed. A child is at risk if they have a poor home language environment, or have a genetic predisposition. (Basically, if a family regularly uses poor grammar and pronunciation, it can lead to a higher risk of dyslexia aside from traditional inheritance from a dyslexic parent. If a dyslexic child can begin remediation before 8 years old, brain scans indicate that brain activity when comparing re-mediated dyslexics and non-dyslexics is indistinguishable. My Baby Can Read is little more than a parlor trick- the child is unlikely to benefit from being able to 'read' earlier, and if they hope to succeed, they will have to unlearn the lessons the program teaches them .

I would not recommend this product. But I figure if I work with her enough eventually she will read. The program may a useful tool but the price they charge is ridiculous. Especially since they tell you one price on the phone and then charge you another. When I called the call center they told me that the full price was listed on the invoice. Ok, but then why are telling people a different price over the phone! I was very clear when ordering about asking the end price, I asked some three time. Now, I am being charged additional monies. I am very disappointed. The fact that my daughter did not absolutely love the program I was willing to live with. But now I just feel scammed.

My daughter gets bored watching the YBCR Series. But I figure if I work with her enough eventually she will read. He brings them to me to put on during the day. He makes monkey sounds and dances to the music. He has learned all of his body parts and colors. These videos are definitely something I feel good about letting my baby watch. I hope all you other parents out there will fall in love with Monki See as much as my baby and I have!! :)

My baby LOVES these videos. It's a lot better than most of the junk that's played on TV only to dumb kids down. I recommend YourBabyCanRead for kids 1-5 years old.

YourBabyCanRead is a great educational DVD.
