You might have seen the new, hilarious, commercial from that crazy guy who sells the Sham Wows. His new gadget is the Slap Chop and it's actually a nice step up from normal choppers.
I first saw the commercial while I was up late at night eating nachos. I had actually spent about 20 minutes chopping all my onions, peppers, beans and cheese and nuking it all in the microwave. I nearly missed the funny commercial because I was slap-chopping so long!
Watch the full Slap Chop commercial
The funniest line came when he was talking about tearing up while chopping onions, "Life's hard enough as it is, you don’t need to cry anymore."
That was hilarious, but so true. I hate tearing up and blowing my nose every time I want some onions.
I had gotten one of the push-down choppers before, but it didn't work so well. The blades were positioned in an X so all kinds of food would get stuck in the empty spaces between the blades and sit there while I chopped the rest of it far too small.
The thing that caught my eye was how the blades on the Slap Chop were situated, they were in a W shape with very little space between the chopping areas.
When it arrived -- along with a great cheese grating gizmo -- the Slap Chop actually lived up to the late-night hype.
I made myself a batch of nachos in about two minutes; most of that time was used finding all the veggies in my fridge. I even wiped down the blade in the minute that the nachos were sitting in the microwave.
I have to say I'm quite impressed with the food chopper. And the cheese grater was fantastic for pasta dinners.
Check it out yourself and buy a Slap Chop, you will be happy.
Here is the best available offer if you want to order SlapChop.

Finally I have a place to vent my frustrations about the %@*@#$ Slap Chop! I have a Pampered Chef chopper that works like a charm. I needed a second chopper for my RV, and so my husband and I purchased a Slap Chop. I began chopping carrots, and they disappeared… stuck up in the Slap Chop blades. The very act of slapping the top of the Slap Chop makes all the connections fall apart… the top comes unscrewed, causing the sides to part, allowing the %*@#$%8 blade guard to fall and the plastic that screws around the whole thing falls off!!!! What a piece of crap!! This thing is the best marketing tool for the Pampered Chef chopper that you could hope for.

i really liked this thing for chopping up my chillie peppers the metal shaft that is aluminum broke needs a stainless shaft so it doesn’t break where the shaft screws into blades this could be very much improved good idea.

This thing is a giant piece of crap. The commercial is hilarious and makes it look great…reality is another thing altogether.

I HATE this thing!! It DOES NOT work like they say it does. I still have to chop my garlic and onions with a knife, like I did before. I do like the grater. Does anyone know of somewhere I can buy just the grater, without having to buy another one of these stupid, worthless Slap Chops?
Review by John Million January 10, 2011
A hazard to your Life! In my first use to chop up 2 small onions, the Splash Guard split into several small pieces which were the same color as the onions. We didn’t suspect anything was amiss until we started eating the potato salad we had prepared. When I almost choked on a small piece of the plastic, we then started looking further and found that part of the Guard had shattered. Largest piece we found was about 1/8″x 3/4″ and smallest was about 1/16″x1/8″. Several pieces were not found!!!
I have filed a complaint with the Company, the BBB of CT and my VISA card company. So far all I have heard is Slap Chop wants their product returned at my expense.
Although, they charged me $25 shipping, FedEx will only charge me $15 to ship it back.
The product did a fairly good job of chopping, but I prefer my onions without plastic. The company obviosly does not stand behind their product.

Piece of junk! Got it at Home Outfitters for $9.99 (half price). Still way overpriced. Used it once for chopping chocolate pieces and still had to chop most by hand. Then tried to clean it- the blades very difficult to clean. Tried to put it back together but wouldn’t fit with the splash guard. Grrr… So found the bill since I’m not keeping this garbage only to find out it was final sale! Go figure!

I have had a Pampered Chef chopper for years (at least 5) and it finally broke. Loved it for cole slaw etc. This Slap Chop was more expensive at CTC and cheaper made. The plastice insert is very difficult to place and has the added featurte of coming loose as well as the ability to be broken easily. Wish they wouldf spend a little more time on tht item. Otherwise the idea, though not original, is great and does save time.
Review by Sheila January 1, 2011
I received a Slap Chop for Xmas this year. So far, I am unimpressed.
The Good:
- It comes apart easily for cleaning.
The Bad:
- It is very flimsy plastic.
- It only chops a small amount at a time.
- It gets stuck in the down position and sometimes takes some coercing to get it to start chopping again.
- Food gets stuck in the blades… more food than actually gets chopped.
- The blades do not turn so it just keeps chopping in the same spot over and over.
- It didn’t so much chop the veggies as pulverize them to mush, and what wasn’t mush, was still in big chunks, and/or stuck in the blades.
- While it came apart easy, putting it back together was a little frustrating as the parts didn’t fit back together well or easily.
The Ugly:
- The knob on the top that you are supposed to “Slap” popped-off at one point and I very nearly impaled my hand on the metal shaft.
All in all, a waste of money. I can chop faster and better with a good sharp knife or my beloved Ulu.

I like the slap chop. I think it works pretty well. The plastic insert into the blades is cheap and broke/cracked. It still works well without it. I use it for onions, garlic, tomato, cucumber and so much more. It definitely saves time. It was gift so I didn’t pay for it.
Review by Gerry Thompson August 23, 2010
This is a greatly overrated fragile chopper that lacks the rigidity to sustain the stress of chopping and has to have the plunger pulled up after a slap and that virtually falls apart when you try to reassemble it after cleaning. I would like to have my money back.
Review by devinlester1988 August 9, 2010
I am sooo happy, I cant believe it actually works. It`s saving me tons of time in the kitchen and even saves me money. I cant believe how fast shipping was and that it came with the FREE Graty. I recommend the Slap Chop to everyone, I believe it is a neccesity in every kitchen.
your fan, Devin
Review by F.Henry July 20, 2010
The product is terrible… the food sticks to the blades no matter how you slap it! The shipping charge of $25 was not disclosed and took me by surprise since I ordered from the Canada website. I would like to send it back and get a refund but can’t find their address. If anyone knows, please email it to me.
Review by Gerry Thompson July 19, 2010
Why is there no way to contact this Company. I understand that not all of the assembly can be put in the dishwasher. What can? My experience is that when you slap it doesn’t return to the up position and you have to pull it up. Does that look like the demo?
Review by Jeremy from We Took The Bait July 5, 2010
If you’re thinking of buying a Slap Chop, make sure your purchase comes with the Graty companion piece. Then, when you inevitably toss your worthless Slap Chop into the garbage, you’ll at least have something to hold onto. I actually liked the Graty.
Review by vegetable dicer July 5, 2010
I was so thrilled the first time I saw the advertisement for the Slap Chop – finally – a chopper that works. I have bought hundreds over the years as I grow and store and freeze all my own fruits and vegetables. I have been soooo disappointed since attempting to use the Slap Chop. All of my produce are fresh and contain lots of moisture – they all get stuck in the slap chop – WHAT – the sleezeball who is advertising this product doesn’t have moisture in his produce – how do they do that ??? beats me !! I am so disappointed I am sending my chopper back to the manufacturer. Did you know that you can pop it in the mail to their address without postage and it will be delivered to them postage due (better than that) Canada Post will charge them double postage – just make sure your name and return address is not on the outside of the package. Do send them a note containing your name, address and “tactful” comments in the box. If we all mailed back our choppers, this company would get the message. I cannot believe they would trick us once again with useless products that are only fit for the garbage. I am soooo upset.
Review by Kat June 29, 2010
I found it ok the first time I used it then I took it apart to clean. It never went back together right after that. The sides wouldn’t meet no matter what I did and the plastic shield didn’t go over the white part well as a result. I also found things sticking in the blades. Sorry I think it’s a great idea but it didn’t perform like the commercial says.

This product is REALLY bad. Not sort of. Not kind of. REALLY bad. Beware.
Review by lindsey April 18, 2010
I used the Slap Chop for the first time tonight, threw in a couple pieces of broccoli, ended up ditching the Slap Chop and dicing up the broccoli myself. The broccoli kept getting jammed up in between the blades. I used the Graty a couple days ago which is the better working product out of the 2, but I still wouldn’t recommend it because you have to put in just as much effort as you would a regular grater, plus it is more difficult to clean than a regular grater. The first time I used the Graty, it actually grated up thin strings of plastic into my cheese! Both of the products are very flimsy and cheaply made; the plastic walls on both are so thin I fear I will break it with no effort! I do NOT recommend this product at all! Buy a different more sturdy chopper! The infomercial makes these products look 10x more easy and efficient.
Review by Ray Beaumont April 13, 2010
What a joke. The Slap Chop is a waste of money. The lower chopping container struggles to contain 2 hard boiled eggs, or low capacity. My slap chops so called plastic blade cleaner failed after 2 uses. The chopped items were full of hard plastic residue. Now, that 10 year warranty.. Ha Ha. They want $7.00 to replace a defective component after 5 days use.
I term this as a consumer fraud scam, they don’t disclose the full warranty clause until you have purchased the product.
Buyer Beware.. It’s a pathetic piece of plastic junk!
Review by Lucas April 11, 2010
It’s a completely waste of money, it never works, everything gets stuck so i always have to end up using a knife.
Review by Amos April 10, 2010

I used Slap Chop for the 1st time today and I think it is a waste of money. There were no directions on how to assemble or how to use. The first slap sent my bell peppers flying to another room!! If you ask me, it’s a piece of junk.
Review by susie March 16, 2010
Slapchop works great, saves time, fast. You need to have the vegies in small pieces before chopping. But FLIMSY, CHEAP THIN PLASTIC, BLADES ARE THIN & WILL BEND. The exterior clear plastic ring cracks SOON. 10-year warranty is a joke, b/c the S&H charge is more than the thing is worth.
Review by Bill March 8, 2010
junk….nothing less…if you have to cut up food to fit it into the plastic piece of junk….keep cutting
Review by Bill March 8, 2010
if you think this is a good item, the housing hinges on weak plastic, breaks after being opened very little. you have to cut up the food to fit it in, so if you are cutting….keep going. it’s a food process item that is meant for a single person at best.

I went through the review and read many complaining about food getting stuck in between blades when you try to slap chop them.
Many also seem to also love it and do not seem to have this problem some of us are facing of food sticking between blades.
It would really help if those who are happy with this product tell us exactly what we are doing wrong.
Is there some trick so that the food we try to dice don’t get stuck. That would really help. Thank you.
Review by Shelley January 29, 2010
I just began using the Slap Chop I got for Christmas and this thing works well enough. It’s not great and I’m glad I didn’t pay for it, but it’s better than slicing and dicing with just a knife. My biggest problem is the plastic guard broke the very first slap I gave it! I think I’m going to check out Pampered Chef to see if I can get the original, sturdier version!

i am most of the time a smart guy when i buy something but this time i bought this piece of shit slap chop. i does not work at all get stuck with onions and is the pain in the ass to clean it. i should have donate that money to a charity institution ,the review of the people that say it works great definetely the got paid by the crack head on the commercial with the earphone fuck! i never felt so bad about throwing money away we should file a lawsuit all together let me know what we can do. i put the fucking slap chop in the box and gave it to my friend who has a stand in a flea market i hope someone buy it and get stuck with that gargabe . I hate the motherfucker from the commercial if I see him I will spit in his face!!!!!!”
I was reading reviews about this product to decide if it would be a smart purchase. I haven’t bought it yet but I was totally disgusted that a person could write such a distasteful review. You showed how ignorant you really are with your filthy mouth. You mother would be proud. If you don’t like a product you leave a review as for all the profanity go back to the gutter where you came from. I am surprised you had the money to purchase the item.

I got it, and it works great. i once put in the onion the wrong way and it got stuck, but if you use it the other way, it works perfect. i havent used pam for the non stick idea, but i might try it. its fun and its cheap. i found it in markham for 20 bucks no tax, which turns out to be the same as ordering it and getting two for the same amount (they said for 20 bucks, pay the s&h extra, add two for canadian orders) which will turn to be about the same. i havent used the grater, but hey, if i dont have to chop onions any more, then this has done its job…

I have not yet received my Slap Chop, but have already had enough with the company. The “Total” that I was supposed to pay was $32, with shipping and the “Canada Surcharge” included. It then showed up on my Visa bill as $37.50 plus the US exchange which equaled out to $42 something. I called and they told me it was taxes. I ordered it from their Canadian website, so I could understand that I would have to pay Canadian taxes, since I live in Canada….but not Canadian taxes PLUS the US exchange! I asked why I would have to pay American taxes, since I live in Canada and the girl said “yup, you have to pay them”. Already fed up, and haven’t even received the product….which I’m guessing by the reviews is not worth it!

I seen this ad on tv but was very skeptical cause usually anything that is advertised on tv doesn’t work that well or tears up before you use it the first time,
I must say that I am very well satisfied with this product.
It works just as it said it would, I think Vince is just a good talker and probably could talk you out of anything you got.
I don’t think he is creepy just a average guy with the gift of gab.

Looks great when he does it. However, if you have arthritis or anything of the type, you must slap this thing pretty hard for it to cut through the bottom layer of whatever you’re chopping. I used it FOUR times!!! And it BROKE – the plastic piece that holds the blades in place broke into many pieces. The slap chop is crap, made from crap, works not much better than crap and costs WAY TOO MUCH MONEY!
Review by Eric December 5, 2009
BEWARE! THEY ARE STEALING!
WHAT THEY SHOW AS THE ITEM COST IS LESS THAN WHAT THEY CHARGE!
I just placed an order for $19.95, and I got the update for another $9.95. The total should be $29.9, but it is $39.85! Moreover they charged me $23.80 for shipping WITHOUT ANY INFORMATION/CONFIRMATION PAGE! They take you directly to the “Thank you for your $63.65″ page, and charge your card without any conformation page. This is the 1st time I buy from the net (other than E-Bay, or Amazon), and it’s the last. Monday I am calling them to cancel, if no go, I am filing with their local BBB, and disputing the transaction.
It’s pre-meditated to steal, cause their web site purchase procedure is designed to steal.
DO NOT BUY!
If you don’t trust me just google “slap chop rip off”, I wish I did before.
Thank you.

Everything I tried to chop got stuck in the blades. The only way I could make it work was to prechop the vegetables. At this point, you might as well just keep chopping with the knife. My friend purchased the deal where you get a second set free – she gave me this free set, and I still feel like I overpaid for the product.

There is an imitator out there that looks pretty much identical. The box is the same. Both have a pictures of Vince, Say as seen on TY, Claim to both have a 10 year warranty. The imitator has weaker blades, flimsy plastic gard and no 10 year warranty inside. The write up is even missing words and has odd spaces. When u push it down it seems stiff.piece of crap! The one that i think is real….not sure though…has a bar going through the blades where as the other does not. The blades also seem a bit thicker.

I think that if they spent more money on the materials to manufacture it, it would be a very good product. The blade won’t rotate as it goes up so it keeps cutting the same spot. It feels like it will break to pieces if it’s used for any period of time, like if I was to make a pot of spaghetti. I’ve only used it once on a mango. I bought it for $16 Can. I would consider paying evan $30 if they’d just stop making it as cheaply as they are!
Review by Doons November 10, 2009
We have received our slap chop and quite frankly are not impressed with the product. Vegetables continually are stuck in the blades to the point where they become mush. Aside from this particular problem, we also take issue with the charge. Is it really 25.00 USD to ship this product to us? If we had known that, we never would have ordered. The product was nearly the price of the shipping!!!!!!
Review by Chic-ette Chartres November 9, 2009
I hate it, and the Graty is even worse. Its not easy to use, either one! The slap chop chops small ammounts of food at once so it takes forever and I don’t know if the blade is dull or what but it does not go through tomato skins. I tried to chop already cut up slices of tomatos and it just exploded the tomato all over my kitchen making a huge mess. It doesn’t come apart easily and I always feel like I am going to break it trying to open it up to clean it. All the food I try to chop gets stuck in the blades and it doesn’t rotate the food like it shows, it just chops the food in the same way over and over again and I have to stop after every chop to clear the food out of the blades so I can keep chopping. The Graty I have to get my husband to do for me cuz you need mustle to push the cheese into the blades (dull blades) and its just a bad construction. The blades are held on by a little metal clip that bent the first time I used it. Its much faster to grate with a hand grater and chop with a knife and cutting board. Sorry guys, you missed big time!

Try cutting up a chicken with it and tell me how it goes!

What a piece of junk. Everything gets stuck in the blades! Plus you have to use a knife anyway to cut food to a size so that it will fit in the slap chop. If you already have the knife, why not just use that instead of dirtying and having to clean something else?
I’m returning mine to the store. Total, total garbage.

I really don’t understand all the good reviews of this product. I bought it today because I was going to be doing a lot of cooking that required a whole lot of dicing. The blade wouldn’t go any further than about an inch and a half away from the cutting board unless I removed the plastic guard. Everything I tried to chop got wedged between the blades. I ended up having to dice everything with a knife. I’m returning it to the store tomorrow. Absolute garbage.

Not a quality product: It does not last!!
The bottom sorround plastic has two big drawbacks!
1: First it actually corrodes from the vegetable juices.
2: After several uses, it no longer holds unto the body of the slapchop and as a result you end up breaking the Plastic design that the knife goes thru. So you end up destroying your slapchop. (a more durable holding mecanism should have been in the factory design.
I now have used scotts tape to hold the bottom surround to the slapchop but that means I no longer can clean it properly.
The good reviews above must have used it only a few times, so the above reviews are not really valid.

I’m lovin the Slap Chop. Great for cutting up stuff for my 10 month old, like grapes, bananas, turkey, cheese, etc. Sure some things stick to the blades, big deal… its a lot of fun and my 3 year old likes to cheer me on. Love the cheese grater too, I have 3 others that don’t work well or are broken that I can throw out, this one has a better design.
For all the whiners, what did you expect for 20 bucks? And of course they overcharge the shipping, they need to make their money somehow. Go to a kitchen store if you don’t like it and pay more for similar gimmicky products you’ve never seen work.

I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN, NOR WILL I TELL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO BUY IY!!!!! IT’S A SCAM!!!!!

Everything that I have tried to chop, sticks to the blades after the first hit, then must be pushed out with a knife or something similar. What a rip off!!

Those people that say different must have received a different chopper than the one I received.

The food gets stuch in the blades. It is difficult to take apart. It is going back if I can find a way to send it back. The directions that come with it stinks. You do nopt get a copy of invoice. The ad said $19.95 but we were charged $35.00.

Review by Jarett September 10, 2009
Horrible product. I have a few pets that eat chopped veggies, so I thought it would save me time in chopping. It doesn’t work at all, as soon you slap the first time, it splits the veggie and everything gets caugut btw the blades and no more chopping occurs. And then it’s diffuclt to get everything out from btw the blades.
The cheese graty thing is horrible and cheap also. It looks like it cost about 50 cents to make. I tried the graty once, then through it away.
I purchased a different kind of chopper that kinda works like the old egg slicers. It works much better.
Review by Sammy September 4, 2009
The Slap Chop worked fairly well the first couple of times I used it. I think the blades get dull very quickly. I make a lot of coleslaw for our family & the cabbage gets stuck in the blades, I spend most of my time trying to get the cabbage out of the blades. It is really a sorry, sorry flimsy piece of equipment. Save you money and buy a good kitchen knife. This thing is a rip off !!
Review by Bruce September 3, 2009
It’s a imitation of a kitchen device marketed about 20 years ago. It was easy to clean and tricky to put back together. I bought it because I do alot chopping with veggies. They need to make improvements on the casing as I think it’s a piece of crap. We were also told there are imitations on the street of this Slap Chop. I saw copies in Walmart and walgreens for 20 bucks. They also need to put out a book on this device as an future improvement.

After reading these reviews, I certainly wouldn’nt buy this thing. Try the Pampered Chef chopper instead. When my ex-wife and I split up, she took it with her and I miss it to this day. Bought the Kithenaid version at Kohl’s as I’m not about to attend the “home party” thing. It works OK but is nowhere near the quality of the Pampered Chef variety. People who rated this as 5 stars have obviously never used a decent mini-chopper.

this company is sneaky. I saw the commercial and called the automated 800 number. The automated rep. stated that a minimum of 3 orders had to be placed, so I went to the website and was filling in the info for my buy one get one free. The order form had no inf. on how to fill out to get your “free Order” so i filled in “2″ and thought I would review the order before I submitted it. GUESS WHAT?!?!? you don’t get a chance to review it – it goes right to billing your card $71.70! NOT $19.95 plus $7.95 for shipping.
I called right away, sent an email. When someone called me to verify – I denied it. They still billed and shipped today. i called again today – the customer service reps say they didn’t get the order until today – so whoever i spoke with or emailed didn’t have it yesterday. LIARS!

Firstly, I wanted to know why an Item I bought for $19.95 appesred on my visa bill as $68.11. No answer from them yet.
Secondly mine did not work, it just clogs up in the blades.

Its doesn`t work well and takes ’bout 10 slaps to dice a decent sized strawberry honestly I think you guys recived a differnt product if your saying its amazing and you can`t live without it. I give it two stars because I have to admit the commercials are catchy I mean thats why so many people bought this peice of junk.

Amazing amazing amazing!!!!!Saves time and a lot less effort…a must own for anybody on the go…I can prep a full healthy meal in minutes, and for the BBQ’s its a must have around. For all those people whining about tomatoes and potatoes…suck it up babies, its 2 things it doesn’t work for!!! but for everything I have used it for its worked amazingly, I now own 2 backups as well!
Review by T Mcallister August 16, 2009
The commercial lies like a sidewalk the “pampered Chef” that I have had for several years works exactly the same also comes apart and folds out the same for complete cleaning ; in fact the “slap Chop” would appear to be a simple clone of the “pampered chef” claiming to be a “new” idea
Review by Daniel August 11, 2009
Gotta love the commerical. I really wanted to like this product. I bought it at Walgreens for twenty dollars–no shipping charges and no cheese grater either (I didn’t need that anyway). All right–here’s the truth. I love fresh mushrooms. If you’re just chopping large, white fresh mushrooms, they get stuck inbetween the blades. In fact, just about everything gets stuck in the blades, maybe about 1/3rd of the food you’re trying to chop. But it did a good job with green pepper and onions. Although it did de-skin the half onion, it took a lot of the onion with the skin–lots of waste. But it’s fun to use. Not a bad product, but not great. A good party conversation piece. A sharp knife still works much better. Oh, it chopped nuts well, but not smaller nuts like peanuts–they got stuck too. It’s great for walnuts and pecans. I don’t think I’d buy it again.

I don’t know if this is happening to anybody else, but after just 2 weeks of receiving my slap chopper the black knob on top keeps popping off and the spring shoots across the room when it is just sitting on the shelf. All of a sudden we will here a popping sound and there goes the knob and spring. And no, my house is cool and no, it isn’t in the sun, and yes I am hand washing it. I think will have to glue down. But, really, it shouldn’t be doing this. This is just inferior workmanship and designing. I have left messages and emails to the company and as of yet, no one has replied, this has been after 2 months of trying to get a hold of someone.

I purchased the slap chop from ShopTV Canada and have to say the product works great. I still say Vince in the commercial is the creepiest guy ever and looks like Mo from the simpsons.
Review by Lil Jon July 15, 2009
I bought myself a slap chop. WHAT? It works okay on onions. YEAH!
Review by Harry Poms July 15, 2009
I must admit, when I saw the slap chop commercial I was enthralled at watching how well Slap Chop worked on Vince’s nuts.
Unfortunately, when I tried it on my own, I discovered that Slap Chop works far better than anticipated.
We already have 5 children, but since trying it so effectively on my own nuts, I can happily state that we won’t be having any more.
My wife is so thrilled that I don’t mind that my shipping and handling charges cost more than a carton of condoms. It might be a little painful to some, but it was so easy to clean.
Thank you Slap Chop!

How do you keep the foods from sticking to the blades. When I got mine home I tried it. The food stuck to the blades. So right now I am not sure whether I like it or not.
Review by Pam July 3, 2009
I prefer my Pampered Chef chopper…..it’s much more sturdy and has lasted longer than the Slap Chop’s warranty….by the time you get finished paying the $16 extra in S&H for the second Slap Chop and Graty, you could have had a nice PC model. Also…the Graty doesn’t grate unless the cheese is a hard type and is previously cut in small pieces.

Just bought one of these things. I saw a similar product 20 years ago that did not work well and I should know better. The thing comes apart while you are using it hakf the time and I woulod not look for it to last very long based on the way it is constructed. It would not chop peppers worth a damn, leaving large parts att6ached to the skin. All in all, I think you would be better off putting the twenty bucks into a good paring knife. It did work well on peeled onions, but that is about the extent of its effectiveness. No good on anythinhg with a skin on it at all.
Review by Doug Hampton June 4, 2009
I just received my slap chop. Don’t waste your money! It doesn’t live up to the hype on tv. I’ve tried it on potatoes, onions and green peppers. the slap chop wouldn’t cut all the way through and the items get stuck up in the blades. They need to rename it to slap crap!
Review by Liz F May 31, 2009
My mom did Pampered Chef for a living…. that was 10 years ago and she uses her “slap chop” to this day. Its durable and chops EVERYTHING! This slap chop commercial makes sure they say “beware of imitators” but they are the imitators. I got this in the mail just to see if it would compare to Pampered Chef… It is exactly what I thought It would be. A piece of junk. Not worth my time. If you want something durable and long lasting I would go with something a whole lot better. Pampered Chef. And its dishwasher safe and comes apart just as easily as this knock off.
Review by KLM May 29, 2009
Buyer beware! The company is crooked. I ordered 1 Slap Chop online and by the time I printed out the confirmation slip it said I had ordered 3. I phoned the company for 3 business days they couldn’t find my order. I asked them not to ship 3 out, but they told me it had already been shipped….even though they couldn’t find my order??? When I was told I’d have to ship it back and pay for the shipping I was livid. Told them I’d be heading straight to the better business bureau. They ended up taking off $25 in shipping in a pathetic attempt to resolve my complaint.
Of all the vegetables I’ve tried it on, onions are about the only item this thing works on. I haven’t even tried the Graty. I have no idea what I’ll do with the other 2, wouldn’t even want to give them as gifts. Stay clear of this product and company.
Review by Jeanine May 23, 2009
I wish I had read these before I ordered this. Thank goodness I ordered from Carol Wright and will be able to get my money back! It’s a nice, heavy utensil, but doesn’t work very well. It mushed my tomatoes and I had to finish cutting up everything else–the onions, carrots, cucumbers, etc. because it wouldn’t go through no matter how hard I hit because the blades are blunt–I’m sending it back. What a piece of junk.
Review by Dora May 22, 2009
This is a piece of shit. Dont waste your money!I received the product after 4 weeks. Tried on onions, garlic, cucumbers and it
doesnt work at all. The food stuck between the blades, the onions were cut off with skin instead of making these apart. Generally speaking, stay away from THE SLAP CHOP! One star is too much!!!
Review by Dennis May 15, 2009
The same thing happended to me that happened to Joyce Lawson. I gave the information on the order page just to see what the freight amount would be. To late!! You are commited and there is no way to stop the order. The freight information is at the bottom of the page in small print way below the order no button. You can’t cancel the order. I got the same story the Joyce Lawson got. These people are crooks and should be stopped.
Review by pete johnson May 4, 2009
I ordered both the slap chop and the graty. Not one, but two pieces of junk! I fiddled with this thing for 10 minutes, trying to chop an onion. The blades are very dull. The graty was no better.
I am thinking that the unit on the commercial uses much sharper blades. This is similar to the episode of the Honeymooners, when Ralph Kramden buys the vacuum cleaner that just makes whirring noises. Of course, the one at the store worked fine.
Once you get kidnapped on that automated phone line, you have to go through the whole rigmarole before you are allowed to finish the transaction. Never again!
Review by ck May 4, 2009
the slap chop sucks! I tried chopping up mushrooms and they get all stuck inside. I tried an onion and same thing. Cheap construction–This product is a complete farce and I would not recommend it to anyone. I guess you get what you pay for.
Review by Claire May 3, 2009
I ordered the Slap Chop several weeks ago based on the positive reviews on this site. Unfortunately, it did NOT live up to its hype. I tried it with nuts, onions, and garlic, but everything would just get stuck in the blades and wouldn’t chop. In addition, the Slap Chop is difficult to wash because the blades are too close together so you can’t clean between them. I do not recommend this product.

Review by Cam Sawzin April 29, 2009
I agree it is a piece of garbage. the white casing doesn’t fit together properly and the clear plastic blade cover will NOT go into the thing so you can close it. the customer service person had NO IDEA why it didn’t work and claimed she had a different version.
Review by Edna Carter April 29, 2009
I took the Slap-chop apart to wash it before using for the first time, and could not put the plastic thingy back in. I noticed Vince correct the way he inserted the piece of plastic, but could not see the video close up enough to see exactly what he did. So, I emailed the company for written use instructions, which were not included in the box it came in, but so far have not received anything. I plan to use it mostly for nuts, so I really would like to find out how to put the darn plastic piece in. Wish I had noticed how it was in there before I took it apart.
Review by Mohamed April 25, 2009
This device is a piece of crap. It does not cut tomatoes or bell peppers all the way thru, so your left with a tenderized mash of blahhh. But it does cut garlic nicely. If you know how to use a knife, dont buy it. Somewhere in a tropical island the venture capitalist who financed this contraption and its marketing scheme are sipping on their mohitos laughing at us. Probably orchestrating their next get rich quick scheme.
Review by Mary Bertram April 24, 2009
I’m disappointed in this, it doesn’t work, everything I’ve used it on gets stuck up in the blades. Does not chop anything. Cost too much to send it back.
Review by nondas April 22, 2009
This is junk. Cost $19.99 plus $12.95 (shipping). Not worth it. Did not slice and diced. Vegetables were not diced even after I chopped them by hand and punched down as hard as I could. My husband told me to stop because he was afraid I was going to chip the countertop. Save your money and DON’T buy it.

Review by Joyce Lawson April 17, 2009
This is a piece of garbage. The company is dishonest. I tried to cancel after ordering at 3 hours after, was told to call back in 24 hours. At that time I was told it already shipped, which was a lie because the email said it shipped 8 days later. Unfortunately, I opened the box. The Slap Chop and the Graty are both garbage, flimzy and don’t work well. Slap Chop is hard to take apart and hard to put back together. One star is too high of a rating. These people must have been paid to rate it. Buy Pampered Chef, it is sturdy and works wonderfully smooth.
Review by Kristen April 13, 2009

I just got a slap chop in the mail, and it is bar-none the flimsiest item I have ever seen. The plastic is not even tupperware thick. I am sending it back today. You can barely get it back together when opened-up without nearly breaking it. How could you POSSIBLY be recommending this to unsuspecting people?
Review by Kris March 28, 2009
I got this item two days back. The blades are not that sharp as shown on the tv advertisement. Cleaning is easy but the parts are not very strong. Loose contacted parts. Looks cheap material and assembling. Chops well some items as showin in the advertisement. But has to be pushed lot of times than what was shown in tv.
Review by Karen February 17, 2009
The slapchop is total garbage. It does not work. The food remains stuck in the blade; the tomatoes get smashed instead of chopped; the lettuce becomes pulp! And they charge a ridiculous amount of money for shipping and handling.($12.95 for a product that costs $19.95). Overall this is highway robbery. Do not waste your time or money. Rather save your strength and use a good old fashioned sharp knife.
I now have to pay additional money to return the product to the company!

Review by Fievel February 1, 2009
It works well enough, but I wish it was a larger capacity.
Creating professional quality salad bases and chopping vegetables for large batches is rather annoying, considering the device only has about 1/2 of a cup actual capacity before food will begin to back up into the blade housing. A 4-cup capacity slap-chop would allow for not only single servings of diced vegetables, but also open up the opportunity for commercial use too.
Oh, and I loved Vince’s nuts.
