You might have seen the new, hilarious, commercial from that crazy guy who sells the Sham Wows. His new gadget is the Slap Chop and it’s actually a nice step up from normal choppers.
I first saw the commercial while I was up late at night eating nachos. I had actually spent about 20 minutes chopping all my onions, peppers, beans and cheese and nuking it all in the microwave. I nearly missed the funny commercial because I was slap-chopping so long!
Watch the full Slap Chop commercial
The funniest line came when he was talking about tearing up while chopping onions, “Life’s hard enough as it is, you don’t need to cry anymore.”
That was hilarious, but so true. I hate tearing up and blowing my nose every time I want some onions.
I had gotten one of the push-down choppers before, but it didn’t work so well. The blades were positioned in an X so all kinds of food would get stuck in the empty spaces between the blades and sit there while I chopped the rest of it far too small.
The thing that caught my eye was how the blades on the Slap Chop were situated, they were in a W shape with very little space between the chopping areas.
When it arrived — along with a great cheese grating gizmo — the Slap Chop actually lived up to the late-night hype.
I made myself a batch of nachos in about two minutes; most of that time was used finding all the veggies in my fridge. I even wiped down the blade in the minute that the nachos were sitting in the microwave.
I have to say I’m quite impressed with the food chopper. And the cheese grater was fantastic for pasta dinners.
Check it out yourself and buy a Slap Chop, you will be happy.
Here is the best available offer if you want to order SlapChop.

i really liked this thing for chopping up my chillie peppers the metal shaft that is aluminum broke needs a stainless shaft so it doesn’t break where the shaft screws into blades this could be very much improved good idea.

This thing is a giant piece of crap. The commercial is hilarious and makes it look great…reality is another thing altogether.

save your money & buy a good knife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review by wacko January 12, 2011
I HATE this thing!! It DOES NOT work like they say it does. I still have to chop my garlic and onions with a knife, like I did before. I do like the grater. Does anyone know of somewhere I can buy just the grater, without having to buy another one of these stupid, worthless Slap Chops?

A hazard to your Life! In my first use to chop up 2 small onions, the Splash Guard split into several small pieces which were the same color as the onions. We didn’t suspect anything was amiss until we started eating the potato salad we had prepared. When I almost choked on a small piece of the plastic, we then started looking further and found that part of the Guard had shattered. Largest piece we found was about 1/8″x 3/4″ and smallest was about 1/16″x1/8″. Several pieces were not found!!!
I have filed a complaint with the Company, the BBB of CT and my VISA card company. So far all I have heard is Slap Chop wants their product returned at my expense.
Although, they charged me $25 shipping, FedEx will only charge me $15 to ship it back.
The product did a fairly good job of chopping, but I prefer my onions without plastic. The company obviosly does not stand behind their product.

Piece of junk! Got it at Home Outfitters for $9.99 (half price). Still way overpriced. Used it once for chopping chocolate pieces and still had to chop most by hand. Then tried to clean it- the blades very difficult to clean. Tried to put it back together but wouldn’t fit with the splash guard. Grrr… So found the bill since I’m not keeping this garbage only to find out it was final sale! Go figure!

I have had a Pampered Chef chopper for years (at least 5) and it finally broke. Loved it for cole slaw etc. This Slap Chop was more expensive at CTC and cheaper made. The plastice insert is very difficult to place and has the added featurte of coming loose as well as the ability to be broken easily. Wish they wouldf spend a little more time on tht item. Otherwise the idea, though not original, is great and does save time.

I received a Slap Chop for Xmas this year. So far, I am unimpressed.
The Good:
- It comes apart easily for cleaning.
The Bad:
- It is very flimsy plastic.
- It only chops a small amount at a time.
- It gets stuck in the down position and sometimes takes some coercing to get it to start chopping again.
- Food gets stuck in the blades… more food than actually gets chopped.
- The blades do not turn so it just keeps chopping in the same spot over and over.
- It didn’t so much chop the veggies as pulverize them to mush, and what wasn’t mush, was still in big chunks, and/or stuck in the blades.
- While it came apart easy, putting it back together was a little frustrating as the parts didn’t fit back together well or easily.
The Ugly:
- The knob on the top that you are supposed to “Slap” popped-off at one point and I very nearly impaled my hand on the metal shaft.
All in all, a waste of money. I can chop faster and better with a good sharp knife or my beloved Ulu.

Tried my slap chopper for the first time today and was not impressed. The onion kept getting stuck in between the blades, it was so frustrating and what a mess after I finished.

This is a rip off. Imagine placing an order and the shipping is almost the same cost as the product. I tried calling the company to cancel my order and have been unsuccessful. There seem to be no contact at all once the order has been placed.

I like the slap chop. I think it works pretty well. The plastic insert into the blades is cheap and broke/cracked. It still works well without it. I use it for onions, garlic, tomato, cucumber and so much more. It definitely saves time. It was gift so I didn’t pay for it.
Review by F.Henry July 20, 2010
The product is terrible… the food sticks to the blades no matter how you slap it! The shipping charge of $25 was not disclosed and took me by surprise since I ordered from the Canada website. I would like to send it back and get a refund but can’t find their address. If anyone knows, please email it to me.
Review by Kat June 29, 2010
I found it ok the first time I used it then I took it apart to clean. It never went back together right after that. The sides wouldn’t meet no matter what I did and the plastic shield didn’t go over the white part well as a result. I also found things sticking in the blades. Sorry I think it’s a great idea but it didn’t perform like the commercial says.
Review by john keay January 31, 2010
I went through the review and read many complaining about food getting stuck in between blades when you try to slap chop them.
Many also seem to also love it and do not seem to have this problem some of us are facing of food sticking between blades.
It would really help if those who are happy with this product tell us exactly what we are doing wrong.
Is there some trick so that the food we try to dice don’t get stuck. That would really help. Thank you.
Review by Shelley January 29, 2010
I just began using the Slap Chop I got for Christmas and this thing works well enough. It’s not great and I’m glad I didn’t pay for it, but it’s better than slicing and dicing with just a knife. My biggest problem is the plastic guard broke the very first slap I gave it! I think I’m going to check out Pampered Chef to see if I can get the original, sturdier version!
Review by Jay January 3, 2010
I got it, and it works great. i once put in the onion the wrong way and it got stuck, but if you use it the other way, it works perfect. i havent used pam for the non stick idea, but i might try it. its fun and its cheap. i found it in markham for 20 bucks no tax, which turns out to be the same as ordering it and getting two for the same amount (they said for 20 bucks, pay the s&h extra, add two for canadian orders) which will turn to be about the same. i havent used the grater, but hey, if i dont have to chop onions any more, then this has done its job…

Wow, I can tell you this thing probably works well, but “beware of imitators?” ha ha this is the same damn chopper I had over ten years ago made by Pampered Chef. Not a new invention, people.
Review by Notimpressed November 20, 2009
it is also smoother when you push it down. Seems to cut a bit better….
Review by Notimpressed November 20, 2009
There is an imitator out there that looks pretty much identical. The box is the same. Both have a pictures of Vince, Say as seen on TY, Claim to both have a 10 year warranty. The imitator has weaker blades, flimsy plastic gard and no 10 year warranty inside. The write up is even missing words and has odd spaces. When u push it down it seems stiff.piece of crap! The one that i think is real….not sure though…has a bar going through the blades where as the other does not. The blades also seem a bit thicker.
Review by eric buxton November 11, 2009
I think that if they spent more money on the materials to manufacture it, it would be a very good product. The blade won’t rotate as it goes up so it keeps cutting the same spot. It feels like it will break to pieces if it’s used for any period of time, like if I was to make a pot of spaghetti. I’ve only used it once on a mango. I bought it for $16 Can. I would consider paying evan $30 if they’d just stop making it as cheaply as they are!
Review by Doons November 10, 2009
We have received our slap chop and quite frankly are not impressed with the product. Vegetables continually are stuck in the blades to the point where they become mush. Aside from this particular problem, we also take issue with the charge. Is it really 25.00 USD to ship this product to us? If we had known that, we never would have ordered. The product was nearly the price of the shipping!!!!!!
Review by Mystillate October 15, 2009
I really don’t understand all the good reviews of this product. I bought it today because I was going to be doing a lot of cooking that required a whole lot of dicing. The blade wouldn’t go any further than about an inch and a half away from the cutting board unless I removed the plastic guard. Everything I tried to chop got wedged between the blades. I ended up having to dice everything with a knife. I’m returning it to the store tomorrow. Absolute garbage.
Review by Paul Martin October 1, 2009
I’m lovin the Slap Chop. Great for cutting up stuff for my 10 month old, like grapes, bananas, turkey, cheese, etc. Sure some things stick to the blades, big deal… its a lot of fun and my 3 year old likes to cheer me on. Love the cheese grater too, I have 3 others that don’t work well or are broken that I can throw out, this one has a better design.
For all the whiners, what did you expect for 20 bucks? And of course they overcharge the shipping, they need to make their money somehow. Go to a kitchen store if you don’t like it and pay more for similar gimmicky products you’ve never seen work.

I spray my blades with pam.. no sticking and works great…
Review by Cron August 23, 2009
Amazing amazing amazing!!!!!Saves time and a lot less effort…a must own for anybody on the go…I can prep a full healthy meal in minutes, and for the BBQ’s its a must have around. For all those people whining about tomatoes and potatoes…suck it up babies, its 2 things it doesn’t work for!!! but for everything I have used it for its worked amazingly, I now own 2 backups as well!
Review by Daniel August 11, 2009
Gotta love the commerical. I really wanted to like this product. I bought it at Walgreens for twenty dollars–no shipping charges and no cheese grater either (I didn’t need that anyway). All right–here’s the truth. I love fresh mushrooms. If you’re just chopping large, white fresh mushrooms, they get stuck inbetween the blades. In fact, just about everything gets stuck in the blades, maybe about 1/3rd of the food you’re trying to chop. But it did a good job with green pepper and onions. Although it did de-skin the half onion, it took a lot of the onion with the skin–lots of waste. But it’s fun to use. Not a bad product, but not great. A good party conversation piece. A sharp knife still works much better. Oh, it chopped nuts well, but not smaller nuts like peanuts–they got stuck too. It’s great for walnuts and pecans. I don’t think I’d buy it again.
Review by Sandy July 20, 2009
I purchased the slap chop from ShopTV Canada and have to say the product works great. I still say Vince in the commercial is the creepiest guy ever and looks like Mo from the simpsons.
Review by Lil Jon July 15, 2009
I bought myself a slap chop. WHAT? It works okay on onions. YEAH!
Review by Harry Poms July 15, 2009
I must admit, when I saw the slap chop commercial I was enthralled at watching how well Slap Chop worked on Vince’s nuts.
Unfortunately, when I tried it on my own, I discovered that Slap Chop works far better than anticipated.
We already have 5 children, but since trying it so effectively on my own nuts, I can happily state that we won’t be having any more.
My wife is so thrilled that I don’t mind that my shipping and handling charges cost more than a carton of condoms. It might be a little painful to some, but it was so easy to clean.
Thank you Slap Chop!

i am most of the time a smart guy when i buy something but this time i bought this piece of shit slap chop. i does not work at all get stuck with onions and is the pain in the ass to clean it. i should have donate that money to a charity institution ,the review of the people that say it works great definetely the got paid by the crack head on the commercial with the earphone fuck! i never felt so bad about throwing money away we should file a lawsuit all together let me know what we can do. i put the fucking slap chop in the box and gave it to my friend who has a stand in a flea market i hope someone buy it and get stuck with that gargabe . I hate the motherfucker from the commercial if I see him I will spit in his face!!!!!!
Review by Dave June 6, 2009
Just bought one of these things. I saw a similar product 20 years ago that did not work well and I should know better. The thing comes apart while you are using it hakf the time and I woulod not look for it to last very long based on the way it is constructed. It would not chop peppers worth a damn, leaving large parts att6ached to the skin. All in all, I think you would be better off putting the twenty bucks into a good paring knife. It did work well on peeled onions, but that is about the extent of its effectiveness. No good on anythinhg with a skin on it at all.

My mom did Pampered Chef for a living…. that was 10 years ago and she uses her “slap chop” to this day. Its durable and chops EVERYTHING! This slap chop commercial makes sure they say “beware of imitators” but they are the imitators. I got this in the mail just to see if it would compare to Pampered Chef… It is exactly what I thought It would be. A piece of junk. Not worth my time. If you want something durable and long lasting I would go with something a whole lot better. Pampered Chef. And its dishwasher safe and comes apart just as easily as this knock off.
Review by KLM May 29, 2009
Buyer beware! The company is crooked. I ordered 1 Slap Chop online and by the time I printed out the confirmation slip it said I had ordered 3. I phoned the company for 3 business days they couldn’t find my order. I asked them not to ship 3 out, but they told me it had already been shipped….even though they couldn’t find my order??? When I was told I’d have to ship it back and pay for the shipping I was livid. Told them I’d be heading straight to the better business bureau. They ended up taking off $25 in shipping in a pathetic attempt to resolve my complaint.
Of all the vegetables I’ve tried it on, onions are about the only item this thing works on. I haven’t even tried the Graty. I have no idea what I’ll do with the other 2, wouldn’t even want to give them as gifts. Stay clear of this product and company.
Review by Joyce Lawson April 17, 2009
This is a piece of garbage. The company is dishonest. I tried to cancel after ordering at 3 hours after, was told to call back in 24 hours. At that time I was told it already shipped, which was a lie because the email said it shipped 8 days later. Unfortunately, I opened the box. The Slap Chop and the Graty are both garbage, flimzy and don’t work well. Slap Chop is hard to take apart and hard to put back together. One star is too high of a rating. These people must have been paid to rate it. Buy Pampered Chef, it is sturdy and works wonderfully smooth.
Review by Kristen April 13, 2009
I am not impressed with the Slap Chop. How did you chop the onions with it? I tried halving and quartering the onions and then tried to use it and the onion just got stuck on the blad and wouldn’t chop.
Review by Peter April 12, 2009
The “Slap Chop” is a piece of crap. I didnt even completely cut up a tomato or bell pepper
Review by Chris Donald April 10, 2009
I just got a slap chop in the mail, and it is bar-none the flimsiest item I have ever seen. The plastic is not even tupperware thick. I am sending it back today. You can barely get it back together when opened-up without nearly breaking it. How could you POSSIBLY be recommending this to unsuspecting people?
Review by Karen February 17, 2009
The slapchop is total garbage. It does not work. The food remains stuck in the blade; the tomatoes get smashed instead of chopped; the lettuce becomes pulp! And they charge a ridiculous amount of money for shipping and handling.($12.95 for a product that costs $19.95). Overall this is highway robbery. Do not waste your time or money. Rather save your strength and use a good old fashioned sharp knife.
I now have to pay additional money to return the product to the company!
Review by Tristan February 15, 2009
Believe it or not i bought this because of how funny this guy is late at night! Have you ever seen him! OMG! I first saw him on the sham wow commercial and he made me LMAOOO! Said something like, “If you call now-in the next 20 mins (cause we can’t do this all day) LOLOL” He makes me laugh in every commercial!!!* The Slap Chopper is awesome!

SLAPCHOP WORKED VERY WELL
CHEESE GRATER IN THE GARBAGE–MORE TROUBLE THAN IT;S WORTH
YOU HAVE TO CUT THE CHEESE INTO VERY SMALL PIECES AND THEN THEY STICK TO THE CUTTER AND EVERYTHING ELSE.

The slap chop company sent me two items instead of only one (charging twice). Beware.
Review by choppin fool February 8, 2009
This slap chop is not a new idea. It’s a knock off of a tool offered by Pampered Chef many years ago. But, if its anything like the chopper from PC, its a dandy.
Review by Kevin February 5, 2009
The Slap Chop company is a rip off. I only ordered one but received two and was billed for two. The company does not want to reimburse me the full shipping charges to send the unwanted one back.
Review by Fievel February 1, 2009
It works well enough, but I wish it was a larger capacity.
Creating professional quality salad bases and chopping vegetables for large batches is rather annoying, considering the device only has about 1/2 of a cup actual capacity before food will begin to back up into the blade housing. A 4-cup capacity slap-chop would allow for not only single servings of diced vegetables, but also open up the opportunity for commercial use too.
Oh, and I loved Vince’s nuts.
Review by Carl January 22, 2009
It is overpriced for its size but it does what it does well
