It was dangerous because she’d pull her paws back and they would crack. The pedipaws worked amazingly good and I tried it on my own nail. It didn’t hurt. :)I give it 5 stars.(it worked 1 1/2 seconds in each nail but she's tiny)

I use to try to use a nail clipper but my chihuahua would cry and try to bite it. Not as long if you keep up with shortening the nails. My little man maxi stays pretty still laying his head on my lap. I love it and am very happy i bought it.

It took a little longer, but works so much better than the traditional clippers. The commercial is misleading. They act like you can just take it out of the box and start clipping away. NOT the case. Only when you get it & read the instructions does it say THEN that it will take some time to finish the job. The sound is akin to going to the dentist and having a cavity filled because that is what it is-a grinder only this is a belt grinder. THAT sound is always fun to hear. Plus it smells like something burning even if you hold it on the nail for only four or five seconds. If you don't mind taking a week or two to do one paw, then it is probably the product for you. If you have an older dog maybe it works, but my young dog became so conditioned to the sound, that he would run whenever he hears the thing. I tried for a solid month with this in every way possible. Spent more money on treats than on the stupid PediPaws. I think I'll just invest in some high quality emery boards now, at least I'll save money.

I am convinced that the dogs in the commercial are either sedated or the actors do not have the thing on and are pretending to do the dogs’ nails. I actually finally used the old clippers first to make the nails shorter and will use the PediPaws to keep them short now. She didn't like the sound at first but doesn't seem to mind when I am doing her nails, she hates the clippers and I couldn't get her to sit still for those at all. The smell can be bad if you hold the nail too long on the grinder because of the heat created.

It does take a long time and with my younger dog time is of the essence because she doesn’t sit still very long. The Pedipaws does not have enough strength to work on his nails. After 10 minutes on one nail I have not made much difference. It doesn't have enough torque, and keeps stopping if I press too hard. Pedipaws is probably great for a smaller dog or cat. I'm looking for something similar but stronger.

I have a large dog, and his nails are large and tough. I suppose if you file your dogs nails every day or every other day it will work fine, but don't think you will grind a weeks worth of nail off in a few seconds. I am pretty good with the nippers I use to clip the nails and it takes a minute or two to do 4 feet with the nippers so I am going to keep on using them. I seldom clip the quick but if I do, quick stop works great. I will use the pedipaw to grind stuff off around the house I guess. It lays in a drawer and does not come out along with the bullet and a few other gadgets I got suckered into on TV.

I think the machine will work OK and it is probably reliable, but it does not work very fast at all. Since I have a gentle giant, my dog let me file his nails for about 10 min. Then he got annoyed and threw me off of him. The noise didn't bother him. I think I was taking too long since it was my first time using it and I didn't want to hurt him. You have to make sure your holding the toe and nail so for little movement. I didn't like the smell it created.

I bought PediPaw in Walmart. Since I have a gentle giant, my dog let me file his nails for about 10 min.
